Did we depend to much on handouts?

Living an Entitled Life! Did Blacks Receive One Too Many Handouts?

“We thrived as a nation within a nation…”

As I read the article I could not help but agree with the author, Devin Robinson of That Minority Thing Blog. Indeed Blacks have relied on handouts and given their souls to the devil in exchange. However it is not as simple as saying we just laid down and played dead either.

While it is true we are no longer as self-reliant as we once were, creating things we needed, inventing new machinery, new techniques, practicing our crafts and making headway to improve our way of life, we are not the only culprit to blame.

This entitled living is a result of many factors and not just what this author pointed out. There is a long list of things that contributed to our downfall.

This entitled living is a result of many factors and not just what this author pointed out. There is a long list of things that contributed to our downfall.

Education –We have seen our school systems raped of qualified teachers, programs, and supplies. Have Blacks ever had books that matched the number of kids per classroom? Now we have moved to giving outrageous raises to superintendents, firing teachers, providing no accountability and empowering teachers unions whose power is way out of control. We will not be able to fix MPS until we fix the environment these kids come from. You try going to school and having no home training, being ignorant and you just don’t know it, no outlet for your talents and gifts, you are the second parent whose shift starts as soon as school ends and you are only 10. Among many other things this is the norm for a lot of our kids and they have no alternatives and no hope. They are the future but yet we invest nothing into their future but hot air. No art program, no music program, if you can’t guarantee victory, your sports will get cut. However MPS has money to pay dead weight school board officials to travel and fake going to conferences, millions on implementing curriculum that we know to be defective, no one fired. I could go on…

Our Black family has been devastated beyond repair.

The Black Family-With benefits and needed resources at stake our Black family has been devastated beyond repair. Not only are the poor suffering but what used to be the middle class is now considered the “working poor.” We cannot live together because benefits and government penalize us for doing so. Also with the implementation of subsidized living, government not only penalizes our struggle to keep the family intact but now is big brother watching how we live every moment and will leave you homeless if you do “shack up.” Don’t even try to get married and be middle class, it’s just financially destructive. And since we are used to living this way, we have seen the black man, our king, the patriarch of the family be diminished to nothing and silently suffers mentally and physically while he begs for jobs or gives up on himself and his family all together. Again I could go on…

Hard work & Ingenuity-Hell I can’t even get good customer service let alone get someone to do good honest hard work, if they even know what that requires in some cases. We all have asked is it too much to have the person assisting us to be nice? Well it is, but this is also taught in the schools or as part of vocational training, or at home (all of three are broken or abandoned). We also have management too young to train or working with people they can barely get to show up for work. They are entitled, why work?

Part of living an entitled life means accepting government bullish. Living in long lines, people talking to you any old kind of way, demeaning us, treating us like dirt, and we accept it and pass it on. If you don’t accept it funny things happen to your application or your wait time increases two-fold.

They treat us like animals and act like the money they give is coming directly out of their personal pockets.
